Toilet Facilities

Public toilets and inside space are available at Llanberis Race Base and Aber North Race Registration. Public toilets are available near the start of the Short Course at Ogwen Cottage.

Travel to Llanberis – Race Base

All competitors are recommended to board the race transport coaches from Llanberis, to start the Long or Short Course. These key transport logistics are included in race costings, even if you choose to attend the Aber North Race Registration location directly.

There is no public parking available at Aber Falls Distillery for race day – short-stay parking only (for family/friends dropping off). Please do not expect to leave your car here for the day.

Please consider reducing car journeys and/or maximising passengers in vehicles when travelling to the race. Use of Sherpa’r Wyddfa buses is highly recommended. Competitors are encouraged to lift share with friends and other club runners. Please use the Welsh 1000m Peaks Race Facebook Page to communicate about potential lift shares. Bangor train station offers good links along the North Coast of Wales. If there’s demand, the race can help to coordinate group travel from Bangor Station on Friday 30 May, for anyone looking at train options.

Llanberis has a number of reasonably costed Gwynedd Council and privately owned Pay and Display Car Parks – please utilise the spaces here and avoid parking in residential streets or blocking access to private residences. There is NO parking available at Race Base itself (only for hotel guests).

Travel to Aber North Race Registration

There is no day-parking at this location. We expect most competitors wishing to register at this location to be ‘dropped off’ or arrive on foot etc. There is NO formal transport returning to Aber Falls Distillery at the end of your race, so please organise to be collected from Llanberis or any other logistics to ensure you can depart Llanberis safely.

Race Finish - Yr Wyddfa

The race finishes on the summit of Yr Wyddfa. Please note that Yr Wyddfa Visitor Centre Café is not always open. Competitors must have sufficient energy/water and the ‘Minimum Race Kit’ extra layers available at the summit, and for the descent from Yr Wyddfa. There should be no reliance on Race Marshals being able to provide food/drink/shelter by default. Provision is made for unforeseen circumstances, and this is very limited. Competitors are not able to purchase ‘single descent’ tickets from Snowdon Mountain Railway, descent is made on foot.

Race Wristbands MUST be handed to a Race Marshal at the finish on Yr Wyddfa. You can also return Race Numbers/pins at Race Event Base for re-use/recycling.

Descent to Llanberis

The most straightforward route back to Llanberis is to descend the Llanberis Path on foot (4.5 miles descent). It is strongly advised to team up with other competitors for company on descent, the leg muscles will be tired and the weather may be very hot or very wet; look out for your fellow competitors! If competitors choose to use other routes (Pyg Track, Miners Track for example), please be prepared to pay for any public bus/taxi to return to Llanberis, as needed. It is not possible to be collected at Pen y Pass car park due to the congestion this causes – private cars are not allowed to ‘wait’ without booking parking in advance.

Please note the timing/tracking of competitors ceases at the summit of Yr Wyddfa and you are responsible for your descent from the finish location. Please use your personal judgement and experience to ensure sensible descent, based on your physical condition, the weather, time of day and be respectful of the energy you have expended during the race. An easy walk down is the best way to ‘cool down’, but keep muscles moving to avoid cramp.

Food and Drink at Race Base – Llanberis

When returning to Race Event Base, competitors will receive a free hot/cold drink and generous portion of hot chips (V/VG/GF/DF). Further food and drink discounts will be available for competitors and families/friends. Come back and meet other competitors again, see the live race timing information and support those receiving any prizes. Stay a while and celebrate your achievements!

Prize Giving – approx. 1645 TBC
